Beacon Community Classes – Spring 2019

Beacon Community Classes (BCC) are offered in collaboration with some of the most passionate, inspired, and inspiring educators we know and love. Beacon encourages any youth who are interested to experience the joy of learning via these valuable resources and collaborations. These fee-based classes are open to the wider community --no Beacon membership required. 




Design and Woodworking, ages 12+

Mondays, 10am to 12:30pm, starts 4/1. 8 weeks.

Work alongside a skilled woodworker/artist to learn the basics of wood construction and furniture-making; then design and build your own chair.


21st Century Genetics and beyond

Molecular Biology, ages 14+

Mondays, 1:30 to 3:00pm, starts 4/1. 8 weeks.

This is a thought-provoking and compelling introduction to the concepts and techniques employed in molecular biology.


Biology of Diseases

Biochemistry, ages 14+

Fridays, 10:30am to 12:30pm, starts 4/5. 6 weeks.

This fascinating course will give an understanding of how cells function and how diseases hijack this functioning to cause many different symptoms.

All classes, unless otherwise noted, are suitable for ages 12+, and each class has a minimum and maximum number of required participants. Full or 50% fee payment is required at time of registration to hold your space in the class. Full payment is due on or before the first day of class.

Beacon Community Classes are available to Beacon members for reduced or waived fees. Restrictions apply.
